Michael and Jennifer's love for sailing began off the Southern Coast of California. They spent their summer vacations at Catalina Island, which consisted of ocean kayak camping in remote coves until a fate full summer where Michael took ASA courses to allow them to bareboat charter. Since then they have done whatever they could to get onto yachts, which later lead to Michael becoming a captain through the USCG. Jennifer and Michael have been married for 10 years and find themselves happiest when their experience can be shared with others. Their hobbies and interests are naturally linked to the outdoors. Some of their most favored pursuits are backpacking, fishing, clamming, snowboarding, surfing, brewing beer/cider/mead, scuba diving, boatbuilding, free diving, and spearfishing. Jennifer is from beautiful Pacific Northwest near Portland Oregon. She grew up camping, hiking, boating, skiing, and fishing throughout Oregon. Jennifer decided to pursue a career as a chef and earned a degree from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Portland, Oregon. During her schooling she traveled to Paris, France where she honed her skills and developed a passion for patisserie. The following six years were spent working as an Executive Pastry Chef. Driven toward providing care for others she altered her course and attended Portland State University for five years studying to become a nurse. While at university she worked as a personal chef and professional nanny for several years. Now as the Chef on AdAstra she is excited to be back at her roots allowing her first passion to shine through. Michael is originally from the Bay Area outside San Francisco California. His land-based career was spent in Renewable power working for a Wind Turbine Manufacturer. He joined the company at age eighteen and left the corporate world at age thirty-three. In that span of fifteen years he has climbed the corporate mountain, rolled down it, dusted him self off and weathered storms. He is predominately an engineer at heart. His mainline passion is to explore and push his personal limits to new boundaries. They are pursuing their dreams aboard AdAstra and are delighted to be your ambassadors to the Caribbean. Introducing Captain Oswaldo Cruz & Chef Briar Smith.... Oswaldo (41) and Briar (39) look forward to welcoming you aboard luxury catamaran AKASHA. You will find them to be professional in their roles, friendly in their manner and entertaining with their diverse cultural backgrounds and rich life experience. Oswaldo (Mexican) fell in love with the water during his time in the Mexican Navy. After his service he spent ten years owning and developing a specialist dive centre in which he took Mexico's elite on dive tours around the world. For several years he worked on different shores including Canada, Egypt and the Mediterranean. Oswaldo completed his RYA Yacht-master training in the challenging waters around the UK, and in 2009 after moving to the British Virgin Islands he met Briar. They have been working side-by-side ever since. 
captain Oswald and Chef Briar Originating from New Zealand, Briar left to travel the world in her early 20's, visiting a variety of countries. This led her to discover a passion for food & cooking. She trained as a travel agent and worked in the UK for several years, a computer programmer in the USA for 2 years, and as an avid volunteer worker she has spent time in Israel and the Galapagos. In between various jobs & travels Briar developed her culinary skills which she has complimented with a number of training courses at Ashburton Culinary School, UK, as well as advanced training at Gastronomicom (France) a 1 Michelin star International training Academy. This training, her love for food of all cultures and her past experience in the galley has her effortlessly delivering a variety of cuisines with amazingly full flavors. All dishes are presented with attention to detail and elegance. Combine Oswald's rich knowledge of the Islands with his witty sense of humor, and Briar's enthusiasm for food and people and you'll find an excellent Captain & Chef. From ensuring you are served your favorite dessert to tailoring the itinerary to meet all your preferences Oswaldo and Briar know that it is the small details that count in ensuring you have the most wonderful vacation. Introducing Deckhand Jos and Stewardess Julia Jos Smart (24) is from the beautiful Lake District in England. He spent most of his younger years on the water windsurfing, sailing and kayaking. Whilst studying Architecture & Environmental Design at University, he raced competitively at both windsurfing and sailing. Jos worked five summers at the infamous high wind resort of Vassiliki, Greece, teaching water sports at an advanced level to people of all ages and nationalities. A trained swimming instructor and lifeguard, he loves sharing his passion for sailing and the water with Akasha's guests.Jos and Julie Julia Taylor (27) from Surrey, England, has worked within hospitality for over ten years between restaurants, hotel barges and ski chalets. She also holds a diploma in holistic massage. Julia's experience and training within the hospitality industry have allowed her to travel through Europe and to the Caribbean, following her passions for windsurfing & sailing. A qualified schoolteacher, Julia has a kind and gentle nature and is wonderful with children. Prior to joining the Akasha team Jos and Julia worked together in France running ski chalets and five star hotel barges. They look forward to welcoming AKASHA's guests and showing them a wonderful time.

Walter is a licensed captain and a certified mechanic. He always has a helping hand for other boaters, too! They call him, "Walter-will-fix-it". ?? During a very cold and rainy summer in Europe in 1987, Walter went to the Dominican Republic for a dive vacation. He felL in love with the beauty of the Caribbean and stayed, to open one of the first European dive schools. ? Capt, Walter and Arlett He never stopped dreaming from the perfect Dive & Relax Vacation solution. ?In 1991 he went to France and set his feet for the first time on Belline ll. After customizing the Catamaran, he set sail through the Biscay to the Mediterranean sea where he cruised along the French coast, the Balearic Islands, Gibraltar and the Canarian Islands. From there Walter and his crew set sails for crossing the Atlantic. They had a wonderful quiet time across, and made landfall 21 days later in the BVI's. Walter and his crew thought they where the next Columbus in Paradise, when they found that the beer at Pusser's was only a nickel! (What they didn't know was, they had landed on a Thursday, when Pusser's Pub was celebrating a special "Nickel-Night"). ?? She traveled extensively the past 4 years, crossed the USA by Greyhound from west to east, worked in Idaho and Nevada as a real cowgirl, in Brasil as a gauchera on a facenda, conquered the Amazonas, hiked thru Iceland, drove all over New Zealand, slept under the stars of the Sahara and explored the westcoast of Greenland on a sailing expedition.?? But nothing can beat the beautiful Caribbean and the life on the water. She was only a small kid when she was the first time sailing on Belline II with her family. That obviously impressed her enough, to come back again and again dreaming of the life on Belline II. Arlette has a Swiss Yachtmaster license, RIB 50ft license and VHF certification. Also as a professional PADI Dive instructor she's always happy to take you on a dive around the most stunning reefs of the Caribbean or even make the first bubbles with you! From a young age, Nick made the sea his home and passion. He is also an avid amateur photographer with a love of wildlife and underwater photography. A safe, fun loving and skilled Captain and Dive Instructor, Nick is a fantastic guide to both the skills of sailing and the beauty of what lies beneath the waves. Nick is an RYA Yacht Master Ocean Certified Captain as well as a Certified PADI Dive Instructor, with many specialities under his weight belt. He is both patient and extremely knowledgeable helping new divers feel at ease and ensuring an unforgettable experience. First Mate & Chef Lucy Fletcher Lucy - whose family hailed originally from Ireland - grew up in the heart of South Africa and has always had a passion for travelling. She soon concluded that the best way to travel was under sail! Since then, she has worked delivering yachts as a deckhand in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and as chef and 1st Mate on charter yachts. Lucy has a real passion for creating delicious dishes in the galley. The foundations of her cookery come from the eclectic mixing pot that makes South Africa the rainbow nation - supplemented by her recent experiences as a yacht chef aboard sailing charters in the French West Indies. She loves trying new recipes and enjoys cooking internationally inspired cuisine and fosters a strong respect for the natural beauty in flavours and textures of the ingredients and products that are seasonally, locally available. Lucy is happy to meet any guest's requirements and put smiles on their faces with her delightful culinary treats. Vlad and Angie are an experienced crew who love showing their guests the beauty of the Caribbean. Their enthusiasm for sailing and their passion for service is obvious from the moment you step foot on Bliss. Both of them have spent many years in the charter industry, which shows in their outstanding customer service. Captain Vlad and Chef Angie Vlad came to the BVI a number of years ago from his homeland of South Africa as a mate on a Dean 44 cat. Eventually he his girlfriend Natalie (whom he managed to woo even though she worked on a different yacht in a different cruising area) took the helm of the 55 ft catamaran Shellette for several seasons. After Vlad and Natalie were wed, Natalie moved ashore and they have since had a couple lovely kids. Vlad moved to a captained-only Hylas 54, Sea Pearl. Eventually Vlad and Natalie decided to move their family closer to the grandparents, so it was back to South Africa... Since then Vlad has been chartering along the shores of Mozambique in South East Africa. But according to Vlad, lately it seems like too many people you encounter there own AK 47s... Modern-day threats of piracy left Vlad no longer feeling safe cruising there, so he decided that warm waters of the BVI were more inviting, and Bliss is lucky to have him aboard. Angie also grew up on the water, sailing catamarans with her father and 4 older brothers in Durban. Thereafter she moved to Cape Town and ran a successful tour guide operation for 12 years before relocating to Knysna. Shortly after that, through a mutual friend, she was offered a position chartering in the Grenadines, where she remained for a number of years and where Angie became a PADI Divemaster. She has extensive sailing experience throughout the Caribbean and are now based in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Your crew aboard Breanker are Marianne and Kristian and are two of favourites. Captains Marianne and KristianThey sailed away from the Danish coast in 1983, after spending much time cruising the eastern seaboard of the U.S., the warm southern waters of the Bahamas, the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, Marianne and Kristian knew that the tropics was for them. Marianne´s father was a chef, and Marianne was brought up close at hand and instilled with a love of cooking and a keen interest in fine cuisine. Their extensive travels have only served to broaden Marianne´s culinary horizons and gourmet options, creating mouth-watering delights for the many guests she has welcomed aboard for the past many years. Kristian is by all rights a master shipwright, having operated his own yacht repair and wood working shop for years, though his education led him to fine arts, especially in art weaving. Kristian also has a passion for water sports, especially diving, and he is happy to share the fascinating marine life of the Caribbean with guests. Alan Roberts, Captain, Capt. Allanhost and some times chef has a background of over 20 years in the hospitality industry in Canada, where he has learned the fine art of cooking in some of the country´s finest restaurants. Alan has also spent many years bartending at some of the more entertaining establishments up north, and has brought the art of pouring and mixing drinks to a new level. Alan spent his first 2 years on Catalyst as chef and first mate, and is now ready to take over the role of Captain, but he still plans to lend his expertise in the galley, preparing some of his specialties along with his first mate. Alan´s love of the water started early, on family sailing vacations on Cape Cod and continued later, on the Canadian side of Lake Huron in the North Channel, where you can find some of the best fresh water sailing in the world. Alan´s passion of the Caribbean, and entertaining friends has brought him to Catalyst, where he can´t wait to fire up the blender and show you some of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Captain Robert "Rooster" Bredeck hails from Michigan but has called St. Thomas home for over a decade. He turned his passion for the water into a career, leading snorkel trips around the island at the helm of numerous daysail yachts, racing Farr 40 sailboats, and taking the helm as Captain and Dive Master on both Captain-Only and All Inclusive term charter yachts. Well versed in the USVI and BVI destinations, Captain Robert looks forward to greeting new guests aboard charter catamaran Catatonic, sharing his love of the water, his wit and laughter and his enthusiasm for the Caribbean life. Captain Robert and Chef Alice Born in California and coming from a family of chefs, First Mate Alice has learned that quality food is an essential ingredient to good living. Inspired by watching her relatives prepare culinary masterpieces from scratch, Alice produced her first creation at the age of five in the form of a cake from her grandfather's baking cook book and has continued on that path ever since. Alice has embarked on numerous different courses focusing on specific types of cuisine giving her an appreciation and understanding of a wide range of cuisines: from Italian & Mediterranean to Asian & Indian. She believes in preparing fresh, nutritious meals using local, whole foods. Alice enjoys creating menus that are custom-designed to meet any dietary restriction and food allergy to provide meals that will benefit any lifestyle onboard. When she is not in the galley, Alice enjoys immersing herself in the different culture of a new country, visiting art galleries and museums, and of course, sampling and experimenting with the local cuisine. Cuan Law is the largest sailing trimaran in the world, and she's not like any other liveaboard dive boat you've encountered. Custom designed for luxury liveaboard diving and sailing by owner/designer Duncan Muirhead in 1988, and refit and redecorated on annual basis, Cuan Law spans 105 feet in length and 44 feet in width. Two 103' masts spread 5,200 square feet of sail over the massive deck. Her size and the triple hull design provide extreme stability, both at anchor and while underway. Leon and Wendy Venter are South African and Zimbabwe born. Both are outgoing andhave a love for sailing and water sports, deciding to leave their corporate and business world behind in South Africa to pursue their love for the outdoors inthe stunning Caribbean. In South Africa, Leon had his own engineering business for thirty years plus, doing on-site machining for the sugar, petroleum, paper and marine industries in South Africa and other African countries. Leon has been sailing recreationally since a young boy and has always had a passion for the sea and diving.Chef Wendy and Captain Leon Wendy was involved in the corporate world of Mercedes Benz, being on the financial side for several years and with the Barlows Group previously. Her love for the outdoors, sailing since a young girl with her family in Zimbabwe and then South Africa, as well as her love for diving, made their decision to re-locate to the Caribbean, an easy one. Wendy and Leon have sailed extensively up the East African coastline on their own catamaran and have raced several Vasco Da Gama yacht races, from Maputo in Mozambique to Durban in South Africa. Leon has his Master of Yachts Offshore to 200 tons Captain's license as well as his South African Coastal Skippers License. Leon is a PADI certified Divemaster of several years. Both he and Wendy have been in the charter industry in the Caribbean since 2011, working from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to St. Martin and then the British Virgin Islands. Rates and availability. Captain Chris Captain Chris and Chef JulieBennett was born in London, England where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. He has been sailing most of his life, starting in the local waters of the English Channel, and since 1992 has made his home on the waters of the Caribbean from the Virgin Islands to Grenada. Prior to chartering, Chris was the district sales manager for an east coast engineering company. He loves sailing, teaching guests the basics of helmsmanship, and guiding guests on interesting snorkel trips. Chris also loves to find those out-of-the-way spots where his guests can explore quiet anchorages or hike a deserted beach. Chef / First Mate Julie Bennett was raised and educated a half a world away from Chris, in Kansas. Her degrees include a Bachelor´s of Fine Arts and a Masters in Human Resources, which she put to use as a Director of Human Resources before beginning chartering in 1992. Her culinary talents include the exotic (such as Caribbean & Indian specialties), Nouvelle Cuisine, as well as good old-fashioned heart-of-America dishes. Julie can tailor your menu to include special dietary needs such as low-fat, vegetarian, or low-carb food plans. She enjoys ensuring people get what they need on their vacation, be it quiet time to unwind with a tropical cocktail in hand, listening to a great selection of music, fishing, snorkeling or a little bit of each. Captain Austin Marshal is from Greenville, S. Carolina and loves all things "in and on the water".Captain Austin He spent many hours on the lake near his home in Greenville, South Carolina fishing, boating, wake boarding and diving. While on a family dive vacation in the BVI, Austin realized his "training" on the lake could actually turn into a dream job in the islands. Graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in business management, Austin went on to complete his US Coast Guard Captain training and promptly headed back to the BVI. With his easy going, well rounded personality he soon got a do-it-all job with a large charter company on Tortola which provided a hands on crash course in all aspects of the charter yacht business - from dock work and yacht maintenance to private and large group sailing and dive excursions. Austin has logged over 1500 miles in the USVI and BVI and knows the very best spots to cater to guests' interests and activity preferences. From the best snorkel, dive and fishing sites to calm quiet bays to try out the paddle boards and all of the water toys, Austin has it covered. And for those looking for a little more excitement on the water, Austin is happy to give wake board lessons or taking you on the most fun tube ride ever. Being a true buccaneer he can also deliver you to hopping beach bars for the happiest of happy hours or spin the sails and whisk you to a secluded anchorage, serving up cocktails while you relax and watch the sun slip away after another magical day. Chef / First Mate Philippa having completed a law degree in Scotland, Philippa, who was born in Belfast, Nothern Ireland, embraced her love of travel. She initially moved to Portugal and worked for a Chef Philipacouple of seasons in a shore-based dive centre where she honed her underwater skills and found her sea legs. The next obvious step was a long passage to the warm waters of the Caribbean where she spent the next 14 months in the BVI, working as a Dive Instructor on a 105 ft sailing boat. Philippa's love of cooking was also put to good use on the large yacht where she worked alongside the head chef preparing meals for up to 27 guests each evening. Philippa has tons of experience adapting meals and menu plans to ensure delicious creative meals are suited to each guest's dietary needs or preferences. Philippa trained at the famous Ashburton Chef Academy in Devonshire England, where she honed her culinary skills and qualified as a professional chef. You will love her sauces and she is never happier than when a guest catches fresh fish while on charter, which she expertly cleans, seasons and grills to perfection just in time for lunch. Philippa has spent countless hours exploring the islands and knows many of the great spots to dive, snorkel, hike, drink and eat! She cannot wait to welcome you aboard and share her insider tips of the best that the BVI has to offer with you! Growing up in the countryside of Ohio, Ryan was introduced to the great outdoors from the very start. Whether he was playing football or baseball, boating on the many nearby lakes, or taking family fishing trips to the lakes of Canada, he could be found enjoying what nature had to offer. While he always knew that he loved the outdoors, it wasn't until he moved to the Caribbean in 2012 that he found his true passion of being on and in the sea. Upon moving to St. Thomas, Ryan immediately began his journey into captaining and diving. He now holds a 50 ton captains license with a sailing endorsement and is also a certified Dive Master with extensive knowledge of the areas best dive sites. Ryan loves to share his knowledge of the islands and create a memorable experience for all!Captain Ryan and Chef Dani Dani has an adventurous spirit that is bound to rub off on those that she comes in contact with. Also growing up in Ohio, she spent her time being very active whether it was playing softball, golfing, fishing or, most of all, being in or near the water. Her love of the water carried over as she spent time on her high schools swim team, with friends on Lake Erie, or in her backyard pool. Her first trip to the Virgin Islands at age 17 made her realize that one day she would trade the ponds, lakes, and chlorine for the open ocean. She made that trade in 2012 and has been immersing herself in the Caribbean culture ever since. Her favorite way to spend time is showing her island home to others, allowing them to experience the wonders that it can offer. She has adapted her "comfort food" upbringing to allow her guests to experience not only the beauty of the island but to taste it too! Ryan and Dani were married in 2012 and immediately set their sights on an adventure. While Dani was familiar with the Virgin Islands, their honeymoon was Ryan's first visit. It was love at first sight and 4 months after they were married, they were living in the Caribbean, fulfilling their dreams of adventure and sunshine. Their passion for people and love of the water creates both an adventurous and a welcoming environment that is felt by all. After 8 years together their teamwork is impeccable both on the deck and in the galley. Experimenting and providing not just a meal, but an experience, is something that they truly take pride in. Born and raised in South Africa, Greg and Michelle have known each all their lives. They grew up in the same town, attended the same schools and shared the same circle of friends. After high school each sailed off in different directions to pursue careers in the Yachting world. Greg and Michelle kept in touch as they hopscotched their way round the Caribbean and Mediterranean and as fate would have it the old friends were reunited when each accepted a position on a Mega Yacht based in Brazil. The rest as they say is history! Greg Evans Greg's love of sailing coupled with his engaging personality led to his first job as a sailing instructor in South Africa. Eager to gain more experience (and see more of the world) Greg joined on with a yacht delivery company, making several Atlantic crossings to charter bases in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and British Virgin Islands. It was on his first visit to the BVI the hook was firmly set! Greg aimed his sights to the crewed charter industry and advanced through the crew ranks, gaining valuable experience and exposure along the way. From his early days as a deckhand on a 43 m Perni Navi to Captaining a Classic Schooner chartering in the Seychelles, Greg has just about done it all. Michelle Collins Michelle began her career in the restaurant and hospitality industry landing a positon with an exclusive catering company known for their high profile weddings and corporate functions. Although first hired for her high end service skills Michelle was quickly drawn to exquisite chef creations. She asked to join the kitchen staff as chef assistant and she never looked back. Michelle's formal chef training began at Antoinette's Cookery School, a small school in South Africa known for its culinary themed courses focusing on different cultures, countries and gastronomic experiences. Michelle's reputation for impeccable service and emerging chef skills led her to her first chef/mate job cruising the Mediterranean on a private yacht. As the Med season ended Michelle learned of a position of a small cruise liner as Animation and Entertainment team leader. Always up for a new adventure Michelle joined MCS Cruise line for the winter season and continued to travel the high seas. Jeff hails from Colorado where he was born and raised. Jeff has a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology where he spent two years Captain Jeffliving with traditional cultures throughout the world. Before coming to the beautiful Caribbean, he held a faculty position at Colorado State University where he made documentary films for five years. He is the owner and captain of Grand Oasis and holds a 100 ton Master Mariners License. He is also a PADI certified SCUBA diver and private pilot. Jeff´s enjoys sharing with guests his extensive knowledge of the islands and his many adventures! Amy is from Alabama and has worked with Jeff on a seasonal basis for the past five years. During the off season she obtained a B.A. in Psychology, became a PADI certified SCUBA diver and licensed Captain! Captain TimTim has skippered charter boats professionally and taught sailing since 1988. Also the child of a diplomat, his youth was spent in a number of different countries; indeed, he learned to sail while traveling in England. For several years he managed the prestigious Marina Cabo San Lucas, located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. He has interwoven his sailing career with a parallel career as a golf professional. Formerly Stanford University´s Head Golf Coach, he has also directed an internationally acclaimed golf school and pioneered leading-edge teaching technology. Euros then moved to the ocean side of the yachting industry. There he spent over a year as a marine technician, while completing many ocean crossings. Emily was born on the lovely Island of Jersey, situated in the Channel Islands between England and France. Soon after, she moved to North Wales, where she gained a passion for horses. She competed in dressage, show jumping, and cross-country events. In the summer holidays her passion shifted from the saddle to the helm, from riding white horses on the beach to riding white horses on the sea, sailing around Jersey with her father. Emily went on to study at the University of Northampton where she gained her Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Education and English. After graduation from university, Emily had three years offshore banking experience, as a fund administrator in Jersey. Since then, the meaning "offshore" has changed for her. Since 2005 she has been a sous chef aboard a luxury charter catamaran and has studied with an Australian chef, specializing in oriental and Thai cuisine. Alastair and Sarah are both British but have both been living and Sarah and Captain Alisterworking in the Caribbean for over 10 years. They met in 1991 while cruising around Cuba. Al, an RYA Yacht Master, has been sailing since age 5 and grew up sailing with his family around the Scottish Hebrides. His work, as a tropical medicine entomologist brought him to the Caribbean where he continued to pursue his love of sailboat racing and cruising and also learnt to dive to the level of PADI Divemaster. Marolanga is a very pretty Cantana 43´ catamaran built in 1992, her first mate, ChiChi, is a beautiful cat that sleeps all day and comes up to the cockpit for cocktail hour. We have chartered with Gus and Marcella and had a very difficult time leaving them to return home. They are two of the warmest most gracious people you will ever meet. Harvey gained Yacht Master qualifications at 18, and has been working in the industry with enthusiasm and enjoyment ever since. He started his career as first mate on a 75 ft sailing yacht, spending ten months circumnavigating the globe, including the incredible Tracy and Harveyexperience of going round Cape Horn! Since then he has delivered yachts to many destinations and has crossed the Atlantic seven times, always ending up in the Caribbean, sailing to many of the islands, exploring the area and falling in love with the culture and people. Richard and Chef LisaRichard Rome is a Marine Coastguard Agency Licensed Yacht Captain and PADI Dive Master, born in Portsmouth, England, the home of yachting in the UK where his love for the sea and outdoor life began. Richard studied automotive engineering and worked as a boat builder straight out of school, then worked as a Marine engineer before moving to teach sailing on the west coast of Scotland. Since then he has travelled the seas of the Mediterranean working as a charter skipper. Richard can also turn a hand to the galley, having worked as second chef at ski chalets in Europe and even has experience in silver service! Lisa is not entirely sure on the state he leaves the galley in though so he is usually relegated to barbecuing and catching fish for her to cook! Richard loves any thing to do with the water from the high adrenaline sport of kite surfing to gentle kayak safaris in the shallows. Lisa Dixon was originally schooled in the UK, Lisa holds a bachelor of honours in Nursing. While travelling after finishing University, Lisa learned to dive and never looked back! She become a PADI Instructor in Thailand and has managed dive shops from Australia, Asia and United Arab Emirates to Bermuda. While diving in Croatia, Lisa was introduced to yachts and Richard and this opened up a whole new career for her. She moved on to work for a yacht charter company, spending 2 seasons as a stewardess/flotilla leader in Greece alongside Richard. Throughout the past several years Lisa has also worked for a catering company in the UK, where she has been able to develop and expand her culinary expertise, providing a range of speciality foods for a variety of occasions. Cameron and Rhonda hail from Alberta, Canada and their passion for Rhonda and Cameronsailing and adventure has driven them to pursue a diverse range of sailing locations and experiences. Cameron has been sailing most of his life, beginning at age 12 aboard his family´s sailboat in Vancouver and later competing nationally on the British Columbia Provincial sailing team. Prior to skippering Quest, Cameron spent many years in the marine shipping and transportation industry in a variety of roles. Friends have said they could listen to Gunner´s endless stories and experiences and never tire. Megan has recently completed a postgraduate degree in psychology at Bond. She is also a certified yoga instructor and Reiki Master. During her seven years at university Megan worked in the hospitality and service industry where she became a trained cook and bartender. Her travels have taken her around the world sampling fine cuisine and helping to develop an eclectic cooking style. Len is your captain and the owner of this comfortable dive boat. Slipstream is Chef Donna and Captain LenLen´s dream come true and he cannot wait to welcome you aboard. Len hails from Denver and misses cheering on the Broncos in Mile High Stadium. Len was a general contractor and custom builder. He started his diving career in 1990 in Honduras, after moving to Florida where he took up sailing. Chef Nikki and Capt. BenNikki Nicolet and Ben Raley come to Soterion after operating charter yachts in the contrasting environs of Alaska´s Inside Passage and the Caribbean! While they have sailed the waters for the British Virgin Islands in the past, gone are the days of dipping their toes in the waters to test the temps - In the BVI it´s always summer! Nikki and Ben, both in their early 30´s, are both US Coast Guard licensed captains. Capt. Jason and Capt./Chef BernadetteCaptain Jason DeShay hails from Seaside Park, NJ, where he grew up on the Barnegat Bay sailing hobie cats and sunfish. He spent much of his adolescence on the water helping his father on their commercial fishing vessel. Looking to broaden his horizons, he traveled the continental US and Europe, exploring and experiencing new cultures. Soon after, he met his wife, Bernadette, and discovering they share the same passion for the sea, they found their dream boat, Rarebird, a 40ft. sailboat. They soon decided the cruising and live-aboard life style suited them well. Keeping in tune with his love of the ocean, Jay started a successful sport fishing charter business. Capt. Jay is also an accomplished diver and is excited to be able to dive the warm clear waters in the Caribbean. Jay will help you enjoy all that the USVI and BVI has to offer including sailing, diving, snorkeling and exploring the many islands of the area. Capt. Bernadette DeShay also hails from Seaside Park, NJ and grew up on the Jersey shore. She has always had a love for the ocean and now holds a U.S.C.G. Captain´s license. Chef Karen and Capt. PeterTONINA is owned and operated by an English couple, Pete and Karen, who share a common love of the sea and have sailed and dived together in many places around the world. Pete started sailing as a boy on his father´s boats and has since owned several of his own. As a qualified Yacht Master he has always been at home on the sea and introduced Karen to sailing, who is now a qualified Day Skipper. Karen has been a qualified diver for over 10 years and Pete is now hooked on diving and both are PADI rescue divers (although they do not offer diving from Tonina). Captain Ian is an MCA 200 ton Offshore Yacht Master. He also holds Marine Safety (STCW ´95), Chef Jody and Captain IanMarine Advance First Aid and Advanced Open Water PADI dive certificates. He is currently working towards his PADI dive master qualification. He has been sailing and cruising for 16 years and enjoys all water sports. Growing up on the water in Ontario, Canada, he summered and sailed amongst Georgian Bay´s 30,000 islands where he developed his strong sense for navigation and pilotage. After obtaining an Earth Science degree from Canada´s sailing capital, Halifax Nova Scotia, Ian returned to the Great Lakes to work as a Service Technician and to further explore Canada´s best cruising grounds. After 5 years of work he took his savings and fixed up his beloved sailboat and set sail on an 18 month single-handed voyage from Canada´s cold to the balminess and camaraderie of the cruising community along the U.S. Eastern Seaboard and then east to the Bahamas where he immediately fell for the turquoise water, diving, game and spear fishing. Chef Jody has studied advanced cuisine at the George Brown Culinary Institute in Toronto, Canada. She holds marine certificates in Safety (STCW ´95) and Advanced First Aid. In university she studied Psychology, Sociology and Human Resources. In 2001, restless from study, she filled her backpack and traveled the U.K. and Europe where she embraced the transient lifestyle, both its freedom and its sense of community. She also savored the Mediterranean cuisine and wine and after a long stay flew home with two new passions: fine food and travel. Back in Canada she worked as a Human Resources Professional in the Automotive sector. During these six years Jody´s culinary skills were honed as she used cooking as her means of unwinding every night. In 2005 Ian and Jody purchased another boat with a larger galley which they lived on as they worked their land-bound lives. Always sailing, cooking and entertaining and dreaming of a career that married both their passions. Their personalities already a successful union – Jody´s boundless energy and spirit and Ian´s adaptability, patience and practicality – a career as a crew only made sense. John and Maxine White take great pleasure in welcoming you aboard S/V Lone Star. Captains Whitey and MaxThis couple has many years of experience chartering throughout the Caribbean. They have recently returned to the BVI´s and are thrilled to be your guides and hosts on your island adventure. During their years of chartering, this couple has hosted close to 2000 charter guests. They each have 45,000 blue water miles which includes most of the Caribbean, 18 transits of the Panama Canal, Central America, Mexico, West Coast United States, Hawaii and the South lot´s of stories they can tell. John White, known as Whitey, is a qualified electrical contractor originally from Perth, Western Australia. Whitey´s travels took him to Sausalito, California where he stayed 10 years and built a successful fire and burglar alarm company. While in the Bay Area he was very involved in the local sailboat racing scene. Whitey´s gregarious and open personality sets any person at ease. Whitey holds a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and has been a PADI Dive Instructor for 15 years. He has a passion for Scuba Diving and Instructing and all water sports. It was in San Francisco that Whitey met Maxine. Originally from the land-locked state of Utah, Max had never been sailing before. She quickly took to sailing and it was not long before she quit her job in the San Francisco Financial District and was sailing with Whitey down the coast of California. Max´s treats from the galley are a combination of the cuisines of the countries she has explored while utilizing fresh local ingredients. Maxine is a PADI Dive Master who is as comfortable leading a group of divers or snorkelers in the water or working the sails of a boat as she is in the galley. Africa, France, UK, Greece and Croatia. He was born in West Yorkshire, England and on completing a Degree in Hotel & Catering Management he discovered the joys of traveling. After working on the prestigious Queen Elizabeth 2, and spending 2 years working in Australia, he moved to Spain to manage a restaurant, where he met Samantha. Samantha is also a commercially endorsed RYA Yacht master Offshore. She was born in the South East of England, but moved to Spain, to study at an international college, when she was 17. She is an experienced chef, who promises service- always with a smile. Samantha´s creative nature and international influences are reflected in her simple, elegant approach to beautiful gourmet food. Brad is an enthusiastic fun person, who loves to share his passion for the water Captain Brad and Chef Kerryand the Islands. He was born in Cape Town South Africa and grew up in Johannesburg, where he finished his schooling and obtained a degree in pre-hospital medicine. His love for the water came about after he joined Formula 1 powerboat racing. After sailing throughout the Caribbean and the coast lines of South Africa, Brad decided to pursue a career in the yachting industry. With Brad´s adventurous spirit, natural enthusiasm and expert seamanship he will ensure an exciting and safe adventure on board Secret Oasis. Chef Kerry has a fun and outgoing personality and loves meeting people from all walks of life, differing backgrounds and of all ages. After working as a Fund Accountant for an Investment Management company in Liverpool, England, it was in 2001 with her love of adventure and challenge, Kerry changed her passions of sailing and diving into her career. Kerry has always loved to cook in her spare time and has completed an advanced culinary course in London. As a chef/hostess, she is both friendly and attentive to guests´ needs and wants. This skill has come from experience in the hospitality industry throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and Central America. Kerry is a native of the UK and when not sailing and diving she enjoys riding motorcycles, travelling, and trying new activities. Rodrigo´s adventurous spirit, natural enthusiasm and expert seamanship will ensure an exiting and safe adventure on board Zingara. Kerry has always had a natural passion for cooking, with over 10 years experience in the hospitality industry. Her creativity in food presentation and effortless smile and charm will make you feel at home while you enjoy ever delicious meal that she prepares. Your Summer Crew
Captain Peter holds both German and South African citizenship, and hasChef Colleen and Captain Peter been sailing for nearly 30 years in Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa and the Caribbean. In the late 70´s Pete formed a salvage diving operation operating along the South African coast, and also built ski boats to order. Peter briefly ran fishing and pleasure charters and a Bed and Breakfast for tourists in Mozambique before his love of the sea prompted him to sail to the Caribbean and work as a charter captain. He is an RYA Yacht Master with Ocean endorsement and is a PADI Dive Master. He particularly enjoys sailing, fishing, diving and target shooting. Colleen also holds dual citizenship in Zimbabwe and South Africa. She worked in the travel industry for many years, and met Peter when he rented a car from her while she was employed by Avis. They have been a couple ever since and she has worked alongside Peter in all of his varied business ventures. She particularly enjoys decorating, cooking, entertaining and the outdoors, and has her open water diving certifications. Peter and Colleen are a delightful couple that come to King´s Ransome after operating Fantasy Island since 2006. We have no doubt that they will continue their tradition of hospitality, fine food and five-star service for which they have become known for.
